Meet the Maker
Cosmic Heart Arts, is the ever evolving projects and creations by Lauren Smith. Welcome!
Lauren was born and raised in the desert of west Texas. While living very close to the border of New Mexico, she often frequented the land of enchantment. It is in the rugged landscapes she developed a deep appreciation for the desolate desert mountains, traditional Native American design, and southwestern style.
Lauren moved to Colorado in 2010, where she currently resides with her sweet pup, Jax. Since moving to Colorado, she has explored all sorts of mediums from painting, music, Yoga, and more. The name Cosmic Heart Arts was an idea that manifested on a brisk winter day back in 2016. At that time, Lauren was painting cosmic scenes of abstract nebulas, stars, and other celestial bodies. Not knowing what to do with it then, the name was shelved until November 2020. No one knows why or how, but for some reason the name came back, as well as a series of events that led her to pick up a torch. She has been metalsmithing ever since. Truly cosmic indeed....
All items are intentionally created by hand from her home studio using high grade metals (brass, copper, sterling silver, etc.) and stone. Almost all of the stones are sourced directly from the miner's, mine owners, and small lapidary businesses & families. Your purchase of Cosmic Heart Art products supports our small business, as well as that of others! We try to use only ethically sourced stones and materials (including shipping materials). Often times we re-use the plastic we receive in packages to lessen the carbon footprint. You may find more Cosmic Heart Arts creations in local markets and shops around Colorado.
As well as a self taught metalsmith, Lauren is a RYT500 Yoga instructor, and 100hr Sound Facilitator. When she is not metalsmithing, you may find her hosting sound baths in and around Northern Colorado. Feel free to look over the sound bath page for more info!
Thank you for consciously choosing to shop small <3
